Project Overview
SAVE BC (Study to Avoid cardioVascular Events in British Columbia) is a province‑wide program that helps families stay ahead of early heart disease. We reach out through the five main heart centers in B.C. to people who have experienced a premature heart attack or related event (men ≤ 50 and women ≤ 55) and invite their parents, siblings, and adult children for screening. Participants receive referrals to specialists who can address cardiovascular risk through detailed blood work, heart imaging, lifestyle‑change support, appropriate treatment, and ongoing follow‑up.
Beyond clinical care, SAVE BC builds a long‑term research cohort and biobank so scientists can uncover the genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that drive premature cardiovascular disease. Our goal is simple: identify those at highest risk, keep their hearts healthy, and, ultimately, prevent heart attacks across British Columbia.

“The REDCap Data Management Team is an essential partner in SAVE BC’s evolution to a paper‑free workflow. Thanks to their secure digital platform and thoughtful design, participants can now review consent documents and complete every study form on a phone, tablet, or computer using clear, patient‑friendly versions of each document. We are truly grateful for the REDCap team’s expertise and collaboration; their work has streamlined our processes and elevated the experience for participants and staff alike.”
