Project Overview

The POETIC network is a new pan-Canadian research network led by Dr. Patricelli and Dr. Oberlander focused on opioids and substance use in pregnancy. The POETIC network recently received bridge funding from CIHR.

The current protocol is aimed at piloting the previously developed Living Lab at Home (LLAH) web-based app approach developed by Oberlander and his colleague Dr. Katelynn Boerner, for daily data collection with a perinatal substance use population. The smartphone based survey is longitudinal, co-designed with people with lived experience and has been be completed 3 times a day for 7 days by the participants.

We will collect data through surveys completed by the participant and chart review completed by the research staff. Data type includes multiple choice, checkbox and text. We will also provide data visualization to each participant after the smartphone based data collection period.

What Makes This Project Special:

Power BI visualizations, such as dynamic word clouds, showing commonly reported symptoms—help participants see and reflect on their own data in real time. This approach has encouraged strong engagement from a participants, who feel supported and valued through transparent, participant-facing analytics.
